Mommy Makeover

Welcome

Welcome to your guide to the Mommy Makeover. Take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with these procedures and a few things you can do to ensure the best possible results. Remember, this presentation does not take the place of your consultation and you should take notes on any questions you may want to ask us later.

A Mommy Makeover can be offered to any woman who desires to have multiple cosmetic procedures to aesthetically enhance her body. Pregnancy and the combined effects of weight gain, hormonal changes, skin relaxation, and childbirth can have unwanted effects on a woman’s body. Vaginal relaxation and stress incontinence are both major changes that can occur as a result of childbirth. Approximately, 30 million American women suffer from symptoms of vaginal relaxation and stress urinary incontinence.

Fortunately, certain cosmetic procedures offer a woman the opportunity to regain a pre-pregnancy figure and rejuvenated vulvovaginal structures. Mommy Makeovers usually involve choosing an appropriate combination of Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation®, Designer Laser Vaginoplasty®, liposculpturing with or without Brazilian Butt Augmentation, breast procedures (augmentation, lift, or reduction) and a tummy tuck.

Before considering a Mommy Makeover, please be informed that a woman must wait six weeks after a vaginal delivery or three months after a cesarean section if they desire to have a vulvovaginal procedure.

Procedure

You may learn more about Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation®, Designer Laser Vaginoplasty®, breast procedures, Brazilian Butt Augmentation, liposuction, and tummy tucks by viewing the individual modules for each procedure. We will help you choose the combination of procedures that is right for you.

Preparation

During your consultation you should provide a complete medical history and a list of medications, including vitamins and herbs.

Here are some tips that may help you shorten your recovery time and decrease your chances of complications.

  • Discontinue using Aspirin (including medications that contain Aspirin), Ibuprofen, Naprosyn, St. John’s Wort, Vitamin E and other supplements as directed. These act as blood thinners and could cause excessive bruising, bleeding or other complications. We will give you a complete list of medications and herbal supplements to avoid prior to your procedure.
  • Stop smoking for at least two weeks before and one week after surgery, as nicotine can impair circulation and healing.
  • Do not drink alcohol in excess for two weeks before your surgical procedure and one week after the surgery.

Post Surgery

Your post surgery experience will be individualized based upon the combination of procedures you choose. For example, those with Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation®and/or the Designer Laser Vaginoplasty®procedure(s) will need to abstain from sexual activity and exercise for six weeks. These patients are also able to return to work in one week. Post surgery instructions are most appropriately addressed with your surgeon regarding details specific to your procedure(s).

Recovery

The recovery process is different for everyone depending upon the surgical procedures performed. It is a good idea to start walking the first day after surgery. You should plan on being out of work and away from your usual activities approximately one week, depending on the procedures performed. Due to the individualization of the surgical procedures, the surgeon will provide you with detailed information.

Results

In general, your results will be best seen after six weeks. To assist in maintaining the results of the “body procedures” your, a diet and a personalized exercise program developed by Dr. Matlock will be provided.
